pioneer deh 8400mp question

i have this headunit and the installer claims it needs something called fuse transistor to drop the voltage to the cd player. it is suppose to be on the wiring harness, but you can only get from pioneer. i want to know if i can go and get a regular wiring harness that fits to make the head unit work or do i need this speacial harness?
