The actual sound these headunits put out is great. The d/a convertor makes every source sound decent, even low quality mp3 files via aux or bluetooth can sound decent with it. It has a great active network setup and the pre-out is pretty strong. The auto eq / digital time alignment is pretty accurate most of the time. they have a pretty bright sound signature though so you can go with the alpine or kenwood equivalent if you want a more toned down sound.

The Independent speaker EQ also sets it apart from most HU. For SQ fine tuning, left side and right side separate EQ-ing is real nice to have. I can only think of one other current model that has independent EQ and its over a grand.

I thought KIV-701 did NOT have independent EQ for each speaker - I thought it only had Time Alignment for each speaker???
