pioneer deh-780p TO alpine 9886??

I just bought the 9886 and previously had the DEH-780p pioneer and the alpine has no where near the settings that the pioneer has and without setting this deck makes my speakers sound like crap..my question is: Is if i buy a clarion equalizer instead of the imprint kit..will it still sound good with just an EQ from like clarion or some other brand?? thanks

PS: i guess my question is, is what does the imprint kit do for you? wat settings does it give you?
