had the deck for a while, served well, no problems, all i did was replace my radioshack RCA cables with some nicer ones that are triple-shielded...as i was finnished routing the new cables i went to plug them into the deck and the little ground wire for the shield mustve slipped into a vent on the deck and shorted something out, i heard a little zap. the 10A fuse on the deck itself is toast...replaced the fuse hoping nothing else was damaged and tried turning it on....no luck, the thing doesnt even turn on

does anyone know what happened? maybe its just a few little components on the circuit board that can be replaced...or is my deck toast?

i bet you any money in the install manuel it say's.. disconnect the - batt term.......

they wont warrenty a missinstall.... unless you know someone.... what dose it smell like???? dose it smell funky like electrical... a smell that makes you look like this>//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif or dose it smell normal???

it doesnt smell like anything, i took it apart and there are no signs of arcs either...the fuse blew big time but i dont see any damage...it just doesnt work, i didnt think disconnecting the battery was necessary all i was doing was plugging in my new RCAs...just a very unlikely thing happened and im not sure what it is yet

if you open it up, look on the back plate, and look for any burn marks. might have blown the internal amp.
i did open it up, i see absolutely no burn marks or damage anywhere! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i just FINALLY got all my equipment and now i have to buy a new deck...shit

All that would do would essentially create a "deadhead" out of his stereo and create the necessity for running any speakers in his ride off of outboard amplifiers.

It wouldn't, however, keep the unit from turning on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

get your hands on a multimeter and check if you're still getting constant 12v and switched power, it might have shorted out those lines as well

if one isnt working, check your car's fuses. the switched power (red) is usually just the RADIO fuse in your fuse box, but the constant power line (yellow) is usually a lot harder to find, just test/pull them all

My guess is the amplifier is fried, no chance in finding another amplifier chip anywhere is there?...or any info on pinouts so i can test it?

i did that, everything checks out perfectly on the wiring harness, its inside the deck for sure

Please review...

I doubt its the output, i've worked on many pioneers and it sounds like something on the power supply side is gone. But if it is the output let me know i can get it for you.
