Pioneer AVH-X2800BS Cant update firmware for some reason!

I have followed all the instructions to a T and for some reason when I go to the update firmware option in my headunit, the option is not filled in therefore making it not clickable. The only thing I can think of is the fact that it says in the manual parking brake must be applied.

When I installed my headunit I did not hook it to the parking brake or install a bypass. Could that be the reason it won't let me update the firmware? If so does anyone know a workaround other than installing a bypass?

Too get in advanced menus on a lot of double din and flip outs the parking wires needs to be hooked up...
