how are the pioneer headunits with the usb outlet handle portable hard drives?? does it open the media fast or slow??? do i need to be aware of any weird error messages or anything? just wondering because im kind of tired of an ipod plus i keep killing them. so anybody have hard drive experience with the pioneer line of decks???? just would like to know because its a hell of alot cheaper then a new ipod and i get twice the room so i appreciate the help in advanced.

Just make sure you get one that derives its power from the usb drive and has shock absorbers..OR putting in your glovebox with a lot of padding would work to. Personally I think having a external in a car is overkill unless you have a DVD player. I got a 8 gig thumb drive and only have 2 gigs of it used...which is 150ish songs.
