I'm turning my leased 02 Jetta in next week so it was time to pull all the stuff out. Thought I'd snap a few pics to show ya'll some of my work. This install was no big deal. This is the car my wife drives. FM mod sat radio, "LOC'd" a 4 channel amp that powered up the factory fronts and a single 10 Xtant hexagon sub. Nothin outrageous.
I had a Kenwood FM mod for the Sirius radio. The display was a little big so I built this piece and flushed it in under the radio.
The FM mod's display covered up the cig lighter which I need for the cell phone charger, so I moved it.
Finally, simple amp install. Keep in mind it's done high level. These Xtant amps have a huge input tolerance... Something like 15 volts? I can't remember. Anyway, no LOC box is necesary. You can run speaker level right into the rca inputs of the amp. Just cut the wire, solder on a connector and done (I actually just cut a crappy set of RCA's and butted em' together with the speaker leads). This car actually sounded pretty good. This is a pretty good lil' amp. Oh yeah, notice how the amp is actually mounted, you know screwed down to the car....Not just hangin out loose in a trunk.
