oh i live down in san jose, if you are ever in the area maybe i could take a listen to your system whenever you have those amps in. what is gonna be powered by these puppies?
I'll try to have a revamped working setup by Marv's next barbeque or another ECA meet in NorCal.
So far, the two HXA500 MkII five-channels have been powering the left and right side of my system -- vertically biamped for stereo separation.
140 x 2 @ 4 ohm to midrange
140 x 2 @ 4 ohm to tweeter
170 x 2 @ 4 ohm (the fifth channel on
each) powering midbass
And the HXA1000Q sends a healthy 600W RMS to my pair of Soundstream EXACT 10"s.
As for the speakers themselves... it's pretty much all in my signature. I will be upgrading soon, after the completion of the amp rack within the next week and a half.
I like the compactness and versatility of Scott Buwalda's Legatia 3" midrange (
http://www.hybrid-audio.com) and the cost-performance ratio of the Seas L18RNX.
I refuse to spend an obtuse amount of money on speakers simply because I feel like almost all shortcomings in already-good speakers can be overcome with tuning (xover slope/points, T/A, etc.)
