One tribe would capture another tribe and sell them, for profit, to Europeans.
Additionally, a leader of a tribe WOULD sell individuals from his own tribe to the Europeans.

if a leader were to sell one of his people he wouldn't be a good leader would he. im sure that happened probably to save the leaders skin or like you said trade, but more times than not sale would be from rival tribes..

when i was about 18 i lived in an area that wasnt known for crimes and shootings....but just blowing an air horn at some black guys ended up with 3 shots at my car, one hitting about 2' from my head...
doesnt really matter where you are is all im saying.

This is very true. But some of it is all an act of intimidation as well.

First summer in texas we were lighting off fireworks at our apt complex and some black dude comes out screaming 'cracker' and how he is gonna kick our *** and shoot us.

Of course when we nicely told him to come on over and do what he needs to do, then all of a sudden he wasnt talking about shit and went inside. It just depends on the people involved. Just proves that while stereotypes can be true, they shouldnt be taken as gospel.
