Picked up three Eclipse Ti 12's, have a recone question (pix inside)

Safe travels. I put the three sig 12's back in after our New Orleans trip. I have already broken the rear hatch latch, and the mirror just fell off the newly replaced window and took with it a huge chunk of the glass. I wonder if SafeLite will warranty it since its been like 40 days since it was put in and the glass technically failed...When I get out your way I can snag those 4k's and get them to TheAmpLab if you want, I'll probably be going that way for work sooner than later.

Feel free to pick them up if you get a chance and drop off those other odds and ends in the house (tinsel, DATS, swedge tool). My friend Mark might be there working on the house. If you plan on stopping by drop me a line so I can tell him and the neighbors not to shoot at you or anything.

You really should try those 12s in about 9-10 cube. I'd really like to give them a listen before you pull it apart. What are you doing for battery?

I'll also want to get my brother's car back together with those at some point but he won't be back in New England for another month so feel free to keep using them.

Spider looks right. I'll take your word on the coil ID and OD. Looks about the right wind width though. Are those the new Sundown cones? Man I paid I think 50 a pop for some from Jacob when they first came out. I've got one left here... would be a shame if they're worth so little these days

In general I've found cones make little to no difference in the final product apart from obvious mechanical limitations and of course cosmetics.

I agree with your comment for the most part, it won't make much difference in the end for high power guys. As long as it has the throw. It sure looks like the new Sundown cone, not sure if it's the genuine article. I would imagine it has to be close for stiffness and it certainly has more mechanical run-out. The spider and coil are not the genuine article but they are very nice quality copies with the same dimensions. The spider has a bit more resin than TC spiders but they loosen up nicely and get much quieter over time. I've had plenty of them in my hands, they'll get you the stock sound and performance. But you're right, the leads can be a limitation for some folks who are really throwing down power. He offers lots of 10x3 spiders with beefier types of leads, and an 8 layer coil with the same dimensions, so you could really step up the power and reliability of that driver in a rebuild.

Got them all fired up. Now that that is out of the way, I'm leaning heavily towards selling or trading them. They sound unreal and do everything I thought they would, but I'd like to see what kind of other options are out there I think!

I don't think my frames have the quick change option, is that what you were looking for?
I don't think the Eclipse version of 3hp does either. That would be pretty slick.

No just thinking I'd like to use that Sundown high excursion cone in it on general principal. Really I don't know if I have any more 10" spiders left either so IDK. I do think I'd use it down the road eventually so just throwing it out there.
