I remember the day the strokers were announced. Man the buzz in the industry of the "baddest *** subs ever built for car audio" was everywhere. Cerwin Vega reps were snobbish about them to the point they said the same things about the subs that US Amps reps used to say about the original US Amps. Remember how they burned pencils, welded, etc..... The Vega reps would plug the strokers into the wall or hit them with double power ratings on sine wave generators..... so much fun when people actually got excited about stuff.
Now it's like "oh that ain't sh*t, so and so has one like that". Back when these came out it was more like "oh sh*t, NOONE has anything like that". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif That's what made everything so good back then. Everybody really got into it and got behind it. Everything was new, and a new stepping stone. We're at a level now where a step up is just a step up.
I've gone too far before. You CAN go too far. You get to the point where you get complacent and everything is just "there". When you are climbing the ladder everything new is fun and a new experience and exciting. Going to your first 1kw amp or your first set of $1k mids or whatever.....
These days every amp is 1kw, $50 jensens are 1kw for $55.00 (LOL). We had some posers back in the day like Mobile Authority and others but even Pyramid made Awesome stuff compared to today's "best buy" brand products.
Red cone Pyramid Super Pro's (even the blue cone) with the gold sticker on the magnets would EAT any of these best buy style subs for breakfast and we used to LAUGH at them! Pyramid has never gotten any respect in it's history, even back then..... but those old Super Pro subs.... by todays standards are better than most $200 subs out there.
