Piano players: critique

I won't be able to get a listen till I get home, but what are you playing? If it's Fur Elise, I think I might be most disappointed.

Look forward to hearing.

Since ~4-5 yrs old. I haven't actually "played" since freshman year though, so I can no longer read music, but can still play by ear.

sounded pretty good, had some good ideas in it...didnt seem to flow very well to me though...and granted it was improv, but the tempo was kind of all over lol. but other than that you got some pretty good stuff going on

the transition from the minor mode to the major mode and back was a little sudden, intentional?

also, sounds like the voicings in your chords were all over (try to teach yourself smooth voice leading, itll help a lot!)

sounded pretty good though, keep it up

Yeah, I get kinda excited and up the tempo, then try to be like thelonious monk and slow it back down again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

And yea, I tried to make that transition smooth, but it was a little startling when I was listening afterwards.

What is smooth voice leading?

smooth voice leading basically allows you to keep your hand in the same position, rather than jumping around to play chords

ex: you have a C, F, G chord progression...

you would play C-E-G for your block chord, then instead of going to F-A-C, use C-F-A and then instead of playing G-B-D, play B-D-G

understand?

lol and good call with thelonious

Ahh, gotcha. I regret stopping my lessons, although I know I'll never lose my ear.

Yea, he's my favorite pianist. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
