Luckily I had scholarships that paid for most of my shit.

Walked out of there with only ~$25,000 in student loans. And actually, they don't use tuition money for new construction. They get that money from fundraisers/donations/endowments.

cant beat the price point, quality, and ease of use of the D40 IMO.

I know a lot of people out there are Sony haters but I really like my Alpha 200. Easy to use and the learning curve is rather quick with it.

The D40 used to be the best entry level camera, but I don't think that is 100% true anymore. A lot of people like Canon better than Sony or Nikon as well. Honestly, every person is going to like their camera better than everyone elses. Sort of like car brands, subwoofers, and electronics.

Just curious of what you guys use to clean your lenses?

I have a hurricane blower that I've been using and am extremely careful not to touch my lens. But, I know it will happen someday and I'll get a smudge... I have a UV filter on now that I leave there all the time so I can't touch the 'real' lens, but still.

Normally a microfiber cloth. They are tougher than you expect though, cleaning off smudges won't hurt it, the front element is difficult to scratch. I've read about people putting them through serious abuse and not even leaving marks on it.
