I have owned a PG Xenon1200.1 for almost a year now and am very happy with it. I am running (2) Alpine Type-R 12's (the 05 model with increased power handling and HAMR surround). This amp is very well built, I have never once had a problem with it. It has never overheated or engaged its protection circuitry. The output is very strong with impressive dynamic headroom, my amp came rated @ 1266watts RMS at 4ohms. When I first installed the amp, i experimented with wiring my subs in both parallel and series. I ended up keeping the combined independence @1ohm instead of 4ohms because I noticed a signifigant increase in output when wired to the lower independence. Even though the amp is designed to deliver 1200watts @1-4ohms it still offers more power at lower independences.
The Xenon has several perks that the average amp doesn't. Such as potentiated crossover controls that allow you to set the crossover to a specific frequency, as opposed to simply guessing and tuning by ear. The amp also has an auxillary power/ground connection on the opposite side from the main connections. This allows you to run a second set of power connections, or directly connect a stiffining capacitor to the amp chassis. I connected my capacitor to the auxillary input and it looks very cool hooked up straight in the amp.
I hope this helps, Im sure that youll be satisfied with either amp, but I believe the X1200 is the better value.
