hi i have a Phoenix Gold 800.1 that im thinking of selling off cause i want more power and ill be powering them to two type R alpine sub woofers modle 2005 .

so im wondering whats better

YOur comparing alpines best line of amps to pgs lowest line? It would be more fair to compare it to the xenon. In which Ide choose the xenon for flexibility reasons.

I just said ide pick it for flexiblility reasons. full power from 1-4 ohms, fan cooled operation. Will never go into thermal. Better looking brushed aluminum finish imo. Since it can run 1-4 ohms, then you could swap out a different sub if you wanted to, and still get full power out of the amp. The alpine is a good amp though. I don't like them purely based on appearance despite the good reviews I hear. They look like something that would be hanging in some upscale corporate office to me. I prefer the look of last year's Memphis amps. Alpine has a nice set of features and performance in a compact chassis.

They're both good amps -- your choice should depend on satisfying the needs and limitations of your installation/system.

Thats why most people talk bad about them, but they quickly shutup them they hear them . I think they are very good looking amps. The look even better in person. I like the look of them better then the old, and new memphis amps. I dont see why people dont think they look good, they look better then most amps out if you ask me. Now I know they dont look as good as the titanium series, but they are still sexy.
