Phoenix Gold Ti Elite vs. Rainbow CMX Kicks...

I'd go with the CMX set, also.

I have a set of CMX non-Kickbass comps, and I really like them a lot. Nice, clean tweets, very nice and full midbass, and can take a good amount of power without a problem.

Just asking, but would the MBQ QSD stack up with these as well.

I'm in the same boat as this fella trying to decide...

PG Ti6

SLC or CMX

MBQ QSD

This is a hard decision because there are mixed reviews on all of these, although I haven't heard much of a complaint with the Rainbows, however they are the most expensive if you consider the CMX line.

Just seems like the PG set is reviewed as a more laid back set, so I could see this being a problem for some people who like them blaring crisp highs.

Also.. How do you seal your door for the PG's I never really understand what people meant when they said that. Isn't the door mostly sealed up on its own anyways?

The pgs can definately be a lively set, so dont let the laid back comment fool you, because they can get very loud. Sealing meaning deadning your doors completely. If you dont have atleast 175 watts, then I probably would not consider the elites. The set likes to see tons and tons of power, 200-300 or more. Many people who complain about this set dont have their doors deadned properly, along with them not having the power to boot..

Well I should have a good 300 watts running to each side. So I think I should be alright in that regard.

I think if I don't find a solid justifiable reason to spend the extra money on the CMX set, I'll just go with the Ti6's

Atm I dont have my doors deadened either but I havent had too bad of problems. I plan on getting some too when I purchase these. Whats a close guesstimate on deadening sq ft for two doors?

Do the CMX perform well on axis as well?
they should. i have a set of cmx kicks wit about75- 100 on them and they sound great. the mid bass is better than any speaker ive own or heard in the 200-400 dollars range. get the kicks and u will be happy.

took me about 15 sq feet per door to thoroughly deaden it.

But, I say don't spend $300 on a pair of high end speakers and not have good eqing and time correction because not matter what they will not sound to their best on or off axis.
