May be a stupid question, but does this have coils? If it does, what are they? I see this takes 300 watts, could I use it to play only my subsonic frequencys that my subwoofers do not play? I.E. 30 hz and down?

And it does not need to be mounted in a box?

It has "coils" but they are stationary. Theirs is a trsion rod and it moves two veins to produse sound. Cool peice of history!
