People with 70 or 80amp alternators

Ill be running about 960 rms. Anyone else run this much power or more with a small alt? If so how did it go down?

I'm running about 750 rms to my setup and my lights dim considerably. I'm currently working on upgrading my electrical system.

I ran about 1000w on an OLD 75A alt. It had about 150K on it at the time of installation. The car is fairly demanding electrically. The only time the voltage dropped below 13v was at idle with alot of accessories on - blower, fog lights, radiator fan.

Otherwise it ran fine. Some minor dimming but not a problem.

Eventually - after two years the alt finally let out the ghost, but I attribute it more to old age (226k) than failure due only to the sound system.

I've since upgraded to a 110A alt and 1200w rms and I've had no problems.

i got a 90a with 1500wrms, it usually doesnt drop under 13v @ idle

Alright, thanks for the feedback. Im gonna do the Big 3 and later on possibly look into a yellow top.

Not that this helps any, but my friend had only 300WRMS running in his Kia and the lights dimmed crazy.

Daewoo Lanos, 70 amp, 2-1 farad Stinger caps,1000cca batt

1-500mono block adding another 500x shortly.

2-75x4 ab's

No problem for a year now.
