i know this picture sucks but here it is. what purpose do these soldered points serve? what are they responsible for?

they say " 12v, GND, -12v, V.C., OUT" and have brown burned coloration.

ive pm'd polecat about it but i dont know when he'll have a chance to pm me back. if anyone is familar enough with these boards that can answer my question, i would appreciate it.

there may be components on the other side. or they could be a bridge for another connection. is there a problem, or you just curious what they are for?
yes im having a problem.

the amp will go into protect (same shit as before, starting to aggravate me thinking i solved the issue but havent, even when wired up to a 2 ohm load) and i was told that kicker said it was once a common problem on the 2500 boards where a solder connection would burn up.

i opened up my amp and this is what i saw. could be a coincidence but im just wondering if this component might have anything to do with the protection.

as in the picture its basically that board that sits on 3 metal posts that that connect it to the main board. and where the solder point are that look burned up its a small bridge that connects that top piece with the burned up solder to the bottom main board.

ya brown is never good on circuit baords.....you very well might be right. question is how good are you at soldering and do you have a powerful enough soldering iron. some of the cheaper ones barely get hot enough for citcuit board solder. try removing the entire baord out of the case. It'll probly be some screws on the board here and there and probly some by the mosfets. just be careful. mosfets also dont like static electricity so be mindful while you work on it. check out the other side and see if you can patch it up.

good luck bro.

do you happen to know where to get a soldering iron that will work? hopefully at a retail location?

i have a soldering iron, but its a piece of shit. i bought it for 1 time use, and it seems thats what it ended up being lol.

also, is there a special solder for circuit boards? i use rosin core solder...will that work or should i pick up something else?

edit: just to clarify. if you see the blue resistor on the right hand side of the picture...thats the main board. and the burned solder board is sitting probably 1.5" above the main board on 3 metal posts and is conected to the main board by the little component that is soldered and browned out.

DOUBLE EDIT: just to clarify again...the amp works fine. its only when i start to crank on it ALMOST maxed out (where my gain is set to max out) that it switches in and out of protect quickly.
