People driving with headphones

maybe because all their music is on their ipod/phone..etc and their system offers no way to conveniently play from it or they do not have the devices/aux cord needed, but mostly it is because they don't really give a crap how or where their music comes from so long as they can listen to it. Most people on average listen to everything through some really ****** systems anyway, SQ means nothing to them.

Personally, I believe it's really really dangerous to drive with headphones on. Anything can happen and you might not hear it.

you could say that for doing most anything with HP's on. I see people walking along side highways, riding bikes..etc with HP's on, though technically its not as dangerous as for those who are actually deaf, plenty of deaf drivers out there.

An argument can be made for either. I'm in law school and we study stuff like this. Ultimately the reason it's illegal is because

1) its for the greater good (less possible accidents, overall the risks outweigh the benefits... cars have radios, its not like you can't listen to music)

2) driving is a privledge, not a right... meaning: the government can't take your right to walk the street with headphones on, as long as you're not breaking any laws, and not bothering anyone, you're allowed to do whatever you want. Since getting your license is a privilege, you basically sign away to any of the rules in the jurisdiction that you are driving in. That means that if they have a rule that said you can't wear headphones, you can't wear headphones... simple as that.

Is anymore dangerous to drive with your steroe turned up with the windows up?I can't hear much of anything outside my car with the volume over 1/3.

I always use ear puds under my helmet when I ride my motorcycle. There was a study that done that showed the wind noise inside a helmet at 60mph is around 100db. It is recommended to use ear plugs when riding so I don't see my ear buds as that big deal.

It is much cheaper to get SQ out of head phones than is it to get the same level out of a car stereo. I pair of $100 head phones will smash most stock stereos.
