Peal and Seal or cheap sound deadener for some areas?

I would go with SS only because I have expierence with it and it molds and folds right into the crevices with out having to strecth it much. The Fatmat was harder to lay down, that is about the only down fall I have seen so far. People bad mouth it, but that is usually overtime. I guess I will have to wait 4 to 5 years to see if it will fall off, lol!

Depends on the temperature the car sees, time, how you installed it and the batch of Peel & Seal. Sometimes it never fails, sometimes it fails in a week or a month. Sometimes it takes a few years. Either way, it is a pretty ineffective vibration damper.

Well you seem to know a lot about deadener and you may be right. I have only had mine on for a few weeks. It has gotten very cold and about 80 a couple days and no problems what-so-ever thus far. I also have had a huge change in sound. Like I mention before, my biggest flex I was getting was in my quarter panels of my car. I have a cubby hole that I used the FatMat as I ran out of SS. So just went with the FatMat. Well I still get rattles, which are not as bad, but still there were I layed down the SS, but the rear quarter panels are not flexing anymore, thus no more rattles in that area.

I also believe I did a pretty good job on it as I did use a roller on most of the stuff, but some places, you can't use the roller. I just think I need to do a couple more layers in the back panel and the lid and it will help. I did only get the damplifer and not the pro.

Both are good products in my mind. Only time will tell right now, but I am getting more confidence in the FatMat to use other places.

Please don't say that. Asphalt products will be better than nothing as long as they don't fail. When they do fail, you will either have to clean up the pieces that fall off, if you are lucky, or you will have to replace the carpet, upholstery or other soft surfaced materials the asphalt oozes into, if you aren't lucky. It outgasses toxic fumes and since asphalt isn't viscoelastic, it's ability to reduce vibration is very limited.

I ask you not to say that that because other people may see it and repeat your mistake. Using the products you mentioned, $100 worth of Damplifier will do more than $100 worth of FatMat, without the risks. FatMat IS Peel & Seal. The unfortunate fact is that you could have driven to Lowe's and bought the same exact thing for less money. How can you say FatMat is a good product when it is just marked up P&S?

I've been debating this topic for years now. Two of the best known people who took the pro-asphalt position were Sean from Realm of Excursion and Jacob from Sundown. Both have since had their asphalt installs fail and now oppose its use. This isn't just something that happens a very few times to very unlucky or very sloppy people. It actually looks like, especially if given a few years, like something that happens in MOST cases. I would say it is immoral to sell or trade a car with asphalt in it. This is a terrible mistake folks.
