Pbx xs-12

Ive got two of the old Powerbass xtreme XS-12 subs and was wondering how much power these subs want, they are rated 800 rms, 1600 watts peak but it seems like they can handle more. This is the amp powering the two subs right now

Power Acoustik A2400DB - Monoblock Car Amplifier, Power Amp - Sonic Electronix

they are both in a ported box wired at .8 ohms checked with a multimeter. The amp isnt the best but it seems to move the speakers well. Im just wondering if i can hook up a bigger amp to these speakers without blowing them out. Im looking to get a little more volume out of the subs. If the subs can handle more power which amp would you recommend and do you think there would be a significant increase in volume?

Thanks

if they are rated at 800 rms each why would u wanna give them more? theyre rated at what they are for a reason..companys dont just throw ratings on speakers for no reason

Are you familiar with the xs line from powerbass? Ive heard that they can handle much more power then their rated rms rating, im just wondering how much more power and if there would be a significant difference in volume if i added say 500 rms to each speaker. What i've heard about them being able to handle a lot more power could be wrong but hopefully someone on the forum that is familiar with this speaker can clarify. Also would 2 alpine type r's have more spl then the two xs-12's?

that is the good motor, the chrome version wasnt as good.

if you ever want a 15" of that sub (has a 9" motor vrs 8") let me know i have 1 d2 with bout 20hrs of play time, mint. i was a pb dealer when they made good subs...

You should tell this to the guy in the classifieds trying to sell a pair and saying the color is the only difference.

the chrome 1s arent nearly as good or handle the power eather.
very true. The chrome baskets imo were junk compared to the blacks

I had 1500 watts on my 12 awhile back and it would get a little stinky if i played at full tilt for long periods but did very well for most part

I had a few //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I noticed a huge difference stepping up from a us amps xt2000d rated at 1000@1 ohm realistically 600 watts to a powerbass asa1500.1 which put out 1500 @1 ohm and noticed a huge difference. sub got much much louder off that power

The Power Acoustik amp i have is rated at 1800rms at 1 ohm but i doubt its putting out that much power. It only has 4 x 30 amp fuses. What would be a good amp to power the two subs? I think in the 1200 rms range to each speaker should be good.

Thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it
