paypal fees

ehh it common place on most forum classifieds. It only three percent..... and its your choice to use it. So you are paying for the service instead of the seller. Its illegal for stores to charge you the credit card service fees but that doesnt stop most of them.

its been discussed a shit load of times before. there really is no way around it.

i can say 300 shipped plus paypal fees and you wont buy it

or i can just say 315 shipped. now you just paid my fees and didn't even know it and there is no way for me to get screwed either

is this 100% true?

might have to look into that.

yea it is true. I ran into it when having credit card services put into my store a couple years back. If its like less than 20$ alot of stores try and charge you the fee because they dont hardly make profit. It is very illegal though.

I agree. I dont like when peoiple advertise, pay my paypal fees. but like you said, they will just increase the price of the item.

It says in the paypal terms of use, the seller is responsible for all pay pal fees. I am searching for where it says it, but work comps are so slow!!!!

oh we know it illegal in the little TOS agreement, but how can you possibly try to enforce it? know what i mean

hmm, will have to do some research and see if cali has similar laws.

There really is no way of enforcing it. The person will just sell to the next. BUT the forums could enforce it if they choose. By allwoing people to buy and sell stuff on these forums, the forum owners have a responsibility to make sure laws are not allowed to be broken on their sites. People openly and admittedly break a paypal rule when posting $xxx.xx +pp/fee It could be dealt with by the forums.

Its no different than if I go to wally world and do something illegal in wally world. Walmart still has a right to enforce rules. So does the websites. But it is a mute point because the same goes for pirating software and all that on web forums.

Just my 2cents

wow just did some research it IS illegal for merchants in california to charge a surcharge for credit card use!

fucking chevron and those **** arabs in downtown charging exra for using a credit card!!!!

I don't get that either. I usually see it on advertised prices for diesel along the expressway. I don't see how they get away with advertising a different higher price for CC customers.

yup, i see it in downtown all the time.

cash - 2.99 a gallon

credit - 3.09 a gallon

****ers CLEARLY advertise it and they get away with it. funny thing is though before i knew it was illegal i STILL wouldnt go to those places because i thought it was BS. now i KNOW its bs.

there might be an exception for gas stations. Where I live I think they just jacked everything up 6% to take care of it. There are a few stores and the Arco gas station that still charge you like .35 for using a debit card. That blows on a 2.00 item.

from the research i did (mind you it wasnt a lot) all merchants have to follow this law (in California at least which is all i care about since i live here lol). gas stations are not exempt.

yes arco charges for debit cards and doesn't even take credit cards. funny thing is, i know where there is an arco and a shell right next to each other. the shell is always the same price/cheaper than the arco AND they advertise that they do not charge for credit/debit card use. good idea using this an an incentive to make the customer feel like you care, even though legally you have to do it anyways. but yes, i always hit up the shell instead.

id rather that you jack up the price to cover it, than to BLATANTLY advertise your bs.

Agreed and same goes for me when deciding on entering into a transaction in the classifieds. the way I see it, paypal benefits both seller and buyer. Who wants to wait for a money order that they have to cash. I love my paypal and the debit card that gos with it.
