Paypal confirmed?

I was wondering about the paypal confirmed address thing. I remember reading a thread about a scam involving paypal and confirmed addresses but couldn't find it. Just wondering if I should do it because I can't seem to find anything decent for sale that doesn't require a confirmed address.
