I know my ground from my amp should be as short/thick as possible, so it is. My question is that since the actual ground to my battery is only 8 gauge (and very worn) can i just add another ground (or maybe two) of short, 2awg wire from the battery to the frame, in theory won't the power travel the path of least resistance, and in doing so, not bottleneck my system?

 
Yes, that is part of the typical 'big three'. You might notice a very big improvement upgrading your ground to the frame / body of your car. Otherwise, alternator to battery and ground to alt are the other two you might want to look at while you are under there.

 
By adding additional ground straps, you will have current flowing through all of them. They will effectively be wired in parallel and will share the current inversely proportional to their resistance.
So yes, this will keep my audio system from being bottlenecked at the ground? Upgrading the power wire to the alt. is very difficult because the alt. is not exactly easy to get to, if even at all (well i know it has to be possible, just not that i can see)

My car is the same way. The alt is completely inaccessible without the car on a lift or jackstands.
