i would go with the panasonic i have the 903 same as the 983 just without mp3 playback I used to have a pioneer until i got the panasonic and the sound quality is better with the pana so personally i would go with the pana

I agree. I have the 983 and it kicks ***. You're right it doesn't have an EQ, but HU based eq's are a little overrated.
