Painting Interior?

I need some suggestions on how to paint the interior. Anything special I should use, etc?

I'm doing this cuz I'm taking out the OEM HU which is a double din and installing a single din. I can't afford a touch screen nor do I want one. Therefor I have ordered the single din plastic bezel and it does not match the interior at all. It would be nice just to paint that but there are no known colors that will match well. Therefor I'm just going to paint the whole center console one color so it all matches.

My gf works at a body shop. Though if the guy did it, it would probably be for a side job. Honestly I would trust myself doing it befor I trusted their painter. On top of that he charges too much IMO.

Looking to do something like this (oem color is silver)... minus the steering wheel.

No one has any suggestions?

Befor when I painted my plastic fuel rail covers I just used Bullydog adhesive promoter. Though since I need to sand the plastic single din bezzel down to make it smooth should I just sand it or use primer filler and then sand it? Also as far as paint I can probably get ahold of a gun and shoot it like they would at a shop. Or I could just buy some OEM paint in a rattle can from one of those places that make OEM paint for paint chips, etc.

It's a GTO, not a Civic. Please don't paint the interior. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
It's not like I'm painting it a gay color, just black. Also these cars are made in Australia by GM/Holden, not here in the US... I wouldn't say it's a domestic vehicle. On top of that the Holden Monaro (the Australian version of the car) comes from the factory with black painted trim. As you can see... http://www.seriouswheels.com/2004/2004-Holden-VZ-Monaro-Interior-1280x960.htm

I should have looked at the picture. 12 flat GTO + painted interior didn't click for me.

I personally don't like the idea of painted interior pieces, is it possible to order the Monaro interior parts? Same clips I would assume.

Monaro parts are $$$, on top of that shipping is way overpriced. I doubt they would fit.

Painting interior trim isn't usually too difficult and if done right can improve the looks. The color and level of sheen is very important, either one can take the look and either make it look more classy and subtle or make it look terrible. The first thing you'll have to find out is what kind of material you are painting. If it's plastic, is it abs or something else? Are the pieces textured now or are they smooth? I painted the interior trim of my subaru a satin black. It was originally silver and the guys that did my first hu install scratched it up. I took the discount on speakers and painted it myself. The first time I painted the pieces I used krylon fusion. It's specially made for plastic so it wont chip. This turned out good, but it was a little too shiny. I bought a different paint with less sheen and painted again. Scuffing the pieces is important because it give a tooth for the paint to stick to so if they are textured, you may run into a problem. After you scuff the pieces and make sure that they are clean and dry, start spraying. Do a couple of VERY light coats (after the second coat you should still be able to see a bit of the original color). After these are dry lightly sand with a very fine sand paper. You don't want to take the paint off, you just want to take out any dust that may have settled in the paint and scuff it a bit. After this give it a nice (not heavy) coat ensuring that all of the corners and edges are all the same color. Once this coat dries, lightly sand out any dust (if any) then give it another coat. You'll probably want at least three coats on there. Now you want to make sure the pieces are completly dry before you handle them. A couple of days is usually good. Make sure that you can't smell any paint at all when you sniff the piece. If you smell even the slightest paint smell, the pieces still aren't ready to be installed.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you want any more advice. I have painted my fair share of things.

I can see where your coming from man but i do agree not a tuner so dont do tuner colors do something would look nice and still look good. but u can do it many ways basic just make sure the piece is all cleaned off using a cleaning solvent. prime it making sure the primer is set right with how many coats u need sand it nice and smooth leaving no high spots making sure all smooth paint it color u want and use a nice high gloss clear shot to go over it with make it really stand out.

How many ****ing times are you going to fall back on your god **** avatar? I've seen you do it several times... "See the F50, I KNOW ALL ABOUT CARS!"

I can stick a ****ing waffle in my avatar, but that doesn't mean I know everything there is to know about breakfast. You try WAY too ****ing hard, and it's annoying as shit.
