Whoa... you're here too eh? I was doing research on the current situation with Focal, and found this site. Interesting thread on caps as well, which is what we were talking about!Um, if you play seriously, get a barrel set, virtually the only thing that affects accuracy is the paint size to barrel size match. Make sure your barrel matches your paint, the easiest way to do that, is to get a barrel set. I highly recommend the J & J edge kit or the Evil Pipe. JJ will run you $129, the pipe will cost you about $165. Otherwise, if you want two decent barrels that will allow you to shoot most paint, get a lapco Autospirit and a lapco bigshot. One is for bigger paint, one is for smaller paint. Both barrels can be purchased for under $100 total price.
Let me know if you have any other paintball questions, I'm always willing to help out with a hype free answer.
P.S. I"m selling my Xvalved - Y Gripped ULE Mag. $550 takes it.
12" is good for regular speedball, but 14" or so is good for SupAir to help manipulate the bunkers. Yup, all barrels with the same bore shoot with the same accuracy and distance. Increased accuracy of paint/barrel match is the result of tighter velocity control gained by the match. And, the 'uniformity' really isn't the issue... although out-of-round paint does shoot worse. Rather, it's the phenomenon of vortex shedding, and the poor aerodynamic qualities of a blunt object such as a sphere... the projectile itself is inaccurate.I like the smart parts all american barrels myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif a 12" barrel will shoot 2 inches further than a 14" barrel btw. Paintballs really arent uniform enough to be any more accurate out of a 14" barrel than a 12". Go with a shorter barrel for greater manuverability.
