I don't believe it does. But if you are going for a SQ system, which I assume you are by your HU choice. Then you don't want to play mp3's anyway. It will defeat the purpose.

a p9 owner told me it does not, and i searched pioneer's website and i didnt see mp3 capability.

like kali77 said, mp3 and SQ dont belong in the same sentence.
