Hey so i pulled these off my car the other day to find they are torn up, im assuming from over excursion but i was throwing 100w at them and had my HPF fairly high because from the getgo they didnt play low notes good. I emailed somic and they said it wasnt a manufacture defect and its physical damage so they cant do anything about it. They still play fine though and i only found out because as i said i took them off the other day because i sold my car

Thats what i was thinking just tape them up because like i said they still played fine,

Dont remeber what the lpf was at though, i had the amp on pure HPF though so it doeant matter no?

Dunno if you can get those surrounds off, but a buddy of mine had good results replacing the surrounds on his speakers with a kit from here Speaker Repair Foam Edge Kits - New-Edge-It Foam Repair Kits. Think it was like 20 bills for the pair and glue.

Those look pretty cool, ima look into them thanks man

If its both, I think there might be an issue with the door panel rubbing against it. I know mines is extremely close to the door panel where i have to put a lot of foam around to keep it from touching.
That is very true didnt think of that although im sure they didnt rub, seemed like enough space when i put them. Ima put them in my girls civic now since i sold the mazda

by any chance, did u have water getting into your doors? Maybe they got wet and that, combined with the really hot temperature cause them to get brittle and result in this...just a thought
