I do not agree with this at all. Its not baseball.

AJ (most likely) was hit unintentionally. Dude is not even hitting well lately....

As a former pitcher, let me explain. Once in a while, you lose control of a pitch and hit a batter, if you hit the same batter twice, you did it intentionally. Blalock had nothing to do with it, but you go after a batter on the other team, generally a good batter. If it caused a bench clearing brawl so be it. You don't understand the importance of the manager and pitcher sticking up for AJ. If you let that shit go, you as a pitcher or as a manager may lose some of the players trust and respect.

You must have never played baseball. It's about sticking up for your teammate. Another pitcher hits your player twice, you send them a message and hit one of there players. That doesn't mean you throw at there head, you just hit them in the leg, or back. It's part of the game. As a pitcher if you are told to go out there and hit a batter, you better do it.

But....is it possible for a pitcher to come inside and miss badly due to his control?

I was a pitcher as well, I hit a few batters in my time. Once I hit two straight batters LOL. I wasnt doing it intentionally. I was trying to come inside with fastball on the first, with the second.....I just lost control of my curve.

Shyt happens man...one cant assume it was intentional.

Talk to the Rangers then. When I played ball we had a sign for hitting the batter. Catcher would flash the pinky and index finger (bullhorns). It isn't dirty baseball, it's part of the game. Back in the old days you'd get pegged just for digging in at the plate.

I rarely ever hit batters. Through my 3 years of varsity baseball I probably hit 1-2 players a year if that. You can assume it was intentional because he was hit twice.

Because the umpires don't want to let the game get out of hand. They don't want a brawl. It is still part of the game. Some managers believe in it, some don't. Of course MLB would prefer that no batters were hit. But I don't see a big deal being made out of Russ Springer hitting Barry Bonds and the Giants retaliating. If anyone deserved it Bonds would be the ideal candidate.

Lol, I'm still pretty accurate and I haven't played in 7 years. I can still throw pretty hard according to all the 15-16 y/o's that played in the little league program I helped coach. Fastest pitcher they had was throwing mid 60's and they said I threw a lot harder than him. I'm guessing I can still break 70's. Used to hit mid 80's in high school. Mid 80's with accuracy FTW.

I like Ozzie. Sometimes he runs his mouth too much, but it's nice to see a manager get fired up and say what he has to say.
