OT: PayPal fees are a scam

The fact of the matter is that PayPal allows you to open 2 accounts in order to do cash only transactions. Also, PayPal clearly states in it's ToS that sellers are strictly NOT allowed to charge more money for PayPal fees on top of the asking price. Regardless of either fact, most of the people I have dealt with seem to understand that PayPal fees are at a constant rate of 3%, no more no less. Do not be pulled in by dishonest people, and keep these things in mind when trading on the net. Car audio forums are the only places where I have seen this behavior be allowed, so I figured I would point out the facts for those of you who may be less versed in internet trading.

Also, if you are scammed and need help getting justice, please send me a PM so I can help you out. The federal law enforcement agencies, along with local law enforcement, do not take fraudulent internet trading lightly at all and people do serve time for said crimes. I have had detectives personally ship stolen items of mine back to me, so believe it when I say they don't play games. They know that these types of criminal are the laziest & least well disguised of all, thus they are easily traced and dealt with.

Good luck to all of you honest traders,

Derek

Not just the fees, but paypal itself is a scam.

Read up about it- sucks to think you could have thousands of dollars in there, and if they go out of business, your money goes with them.

It's a little academic, because someone could simply ask a little more for the item and nobody would know the wiser...
Precisely, but instead I run into people here telling me PP fees are actualy $15 on a $250 item and saying they're giving me a break by only charging $10. Buyer beware. I told him I wouldn't deal with him as that was a dishonest move on his part, but I think more people should be as knowledgable as I am. If you ever need help with PayPal questions at all, go to:

paypalsucks.com

Take care gentlemen, & bump this for the sake of knowledgable trading folks.

No, they can't simply take money from you.

If you OWE money, and you've set it up to directly withdraw, then they can. But they are covered by the exact same legislation and regulations that keeps a bank from doing that as well.

usually....if im selling bigger objects ill ask for it, but not on my plans and shit. and when i do ask for it....its because im giving a **** good deal as it is on the product.
x2 when selling larger items paypal fees are a bittch.....

edit - wrong section ftl......

it doesnt have to be a scam. Dont use it then. Theres a reason for those fee's. becasue if its free there would be no reason for paypal. And paypal is by far the easiest and safest way to send moeny. And ill pay the 3% fees because ive already been screwed out of deals and got refunded. twice actually for 200 bucks each time. But all the instant transfer sites cost something. Firepay neteller. When you western union someone money do you expect that to be free?

actually paypal fees are $.30 + 3% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif and they add the $.30 before the 3% so you pay 3% on the $.30 too
