Orion HCCA-D5000 Ran At .5 Ohm

I have read numerous threads and posts regarding the 2500d being run on a .5 ohm load, but how about the hcca-d5000? I have 2 dual 2 subs and dont want to try it to crash and burn unless it can be done effectively (with substancial power that is)..

I ran one for almost a year @ .5 ohm. It did okay.

The most important thing is having the electrical setup to support it. Once I dropped it to .5 ohm, it was a current hog.

You'll need more batteries and a bigger alt than that if you want to run it at .5 ohms. That amp will **** current like crazy. They weren't super reliable at 1 ohm let alone .5 ohms. The older silver 2400 and 2500 Orion amps took .5 much better than the HCCA d5000 does.

thanks man thats exactly what i was looking for. i wanted to get the 2500d but had some problems with the 1200d overheating so thought the newer model with the heatsink would do me better justice since i have such a tight area.

no, your going to need some 31's, be it deka or powermaster or optima

why not sell it and get a zx2500 or something that puts out 2.5k+ at 2ohms instead of pushing some other amp to the brink

yea thought id see if it was feasable with what im workin with, but if i go to that extreme i will get some better subs

was contemplating getting a zx but couldnt afford at the time. i had the chance to jump on the orion at 300$ at the time so thats how it came to be. it beats for a daily driver but im sure the deebee buzz will get me to bigger and better things, hell expecially when i get more cash flow and stop getting the girl prego lol
