Orion 2500d power ?'s

Orion rated its power on the 2500d to put out 2500 @ 1 ohm with 13.8v so does this mean that the amp can put out alot more say with 14.4v and what is the highest acceptable voltage this amp will take? The reason i am asking is because i am thinking about doing a dual alternator setup and dedicating an alternator with a voltage regulator strictly for my 2500d and my other High output for the rest of the vehicle.

Sure. IIRC, they can do 2700watts rms.

Ok, i understand that alot of manufacturers like to use these big numbers to draw customers in to sell their products...then why does Orion rate the 2500d at 5000 watts max if it can only do 2700 dynamic? How could it ever put out 5000...is it if lightning strikes type of scenario?

the 5000w rating is a peak rating which is just bullshit, no one ever looks at peak ratings

So with say 14.4v this amp will put out 2500-2700wrms constantly correct? Is it true as well that if the voltage goes up that the output does as well like say it has 16v does that mean it will put out 3000+wrms? I am just a little confused cause alot of amps are rated at different levels such as 12v, 13.8v, and 14.4v...i am trying to decided if i should keep my amp otherwise i am looking at doing two modded 1500bd's strapped or some mtx 1501bd's.

Is this amp safe to run daily at .5 ohms? Definitely need some good ventilation for it during the summer months im sure...wish orion made these strappable.

I have heard of them being ran at about .45ohms, I am not sure if they would be stable there for very long though. If you do decide to try make sure and give them some fans and also make sure to give them plenty of voltage.

alot of folks run them daily @ 0.35 nominal. keep the voltage up, and run your in box impedance.

I have heard them run even less than 0.35 ohms daily, and up to 17 volts. But you need some serious alternator(s) for that. Keep em cool and with enough voltage and they will do insanely low ohms and insanely high watts.

What size of alternator am i looking at to be able to keep the voltage up on this?? Right now i got either an irraqqi 240 amp or a 240 amp from h-o alts...the irraqqi is so much cheaper than the 240 amp from high output reason that i am leaning more towards that.

Go with the largest alternator you can afford! Seriously...and i'd do AT LEAST two deicated yellow tops on top of that (or equivalent 16v batts. if ur seriously doing that). peace
