Orion 2500d Blown??? (pics Inside)

wheres a link to the how to take up close pictures thread:rolleyes:
Those pictures were taken with my cell phone 1.3 mega pixels so i think they came out well for what I used.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

HEAT!Capacitors are like little batteries. Heat is a major cause of blown capacitors. Yours are rated at 85 degrees celsius (185 farenheit). The eletrolite inside expands beyond the point of capacity and they will ooze. When that happens the caps fail to hold a charge anymore.

Fix your amp then find something to keep it cooler.

BTW, I notice the 2 larger caps with the black tops in the middle in the pic have a buldging top as well. Those are also in need of replacement. They are gonna go soon too.
I'm going to check it out right now

Okay I just opened it back up that little box near the two blown capacitors doesn't have a crack its just glue on top. So thats good

Those two large ones in the middle of the board are supposed to be like that it just looks a little worse in the pics.I think ha

I got the numbers off the blown capacitors and they are

samwha

200v

33 mili?? Or a letter U I think fareds

85 degrees Celsius

Soo how much do you guys think they will cost about???

Also how do i get to the other side of the board to de-solder them and re-solder??

Okay I just got back from radio shack they do not carry those capacitors I checked in the drawer and they even looked up in there computer anyone know where else to look??

http://www.mouser.comlook for 200 volt, 33 microfarad non polarized caps

you'll have to remove the entire board from the heatsink to get to the solder points on the back side of the board

Won't cost more than a few dollars. Shipping will prob cost more than the compontents.
Thanks alot!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

**** theres so many...i don't know which one to get exactly

Hey I just wanted to let everyone know that I dropped my amp off a couple of days ago to get fixed and I should be getting it back within the next few days once I receive it ill let you know how it works out...

LOL you you should have just fixed it yourself. Mouser or digikey would have been a place to find that cap. That capacitor is part of the output filter on class D amplifiers. It filters out the chopped up portion of the signal from getting to your speaker. Make sure the cap is replaced with a high quality low ESR cap. But eventually no matter what you do all cylinder capacitors will go bad with time.

I have a feeling, that these capacitors are not the only bad parts, needs to be replaced.
Yeah your right and the shop still has the amp I should be getting it back within the next couple of days.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
