I have an Orion 2100HCCA that is in excellent functioning and cosmetic condition. I don't know what the manufacture year is but here is a pic of the guts. I had it taken apart while I had the heat sink polished and clear coated.

My question is will this amp REALLY be stable @ 1/2 Ohm Mono? I know it is rated at 1 OHM stable but am unsure about it's 1/2 Ohm Ability.

I will have 2 Kinetik Power HC2000's and a quality 200 Amp Alt.

It would be running 4 JL 12W6V2's

Guys that have these amps let me hear it.

Also whoever has power ratings on these amps...I would like to know what it will do @ 2 OHMS, 1 OHM and 1/2 OHM mono.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Here's the deal. Orion never rated it below 1ohm STEREO 2 ohms mono. I have heard of people running them daily at 1 ohm mono but I was never willing to risk my IRREPLACABLE amp to test what someone else claimed, because I have seen way too many stupid claims over the years.

You can wire those subs to a 2 ohm load and run them that way. It's rated to produce 800watts at that load with 3dB of headroom meaning it will make over 1600 rms for short periods of time at 2 ohms mono. Start pushing it much beyond that and you are asking for trouble. Also consider that the internal fusing is only for 100A.

I ran 6 10w6v1s on a single 2100 for about 6mos (totaled the vehicle) and I blew a 20A speaker fuse twice. @ 2 ohms a 20A fuse is 800rms and it takes 150% of the rated capacity of a fuse to blow it; that's over 1800 watts @ 2ohms. Will that be enough for you?

To say the least! Thanks helo-

I could have sworn that Orion rated this amp 1 OHM Mono Stable...but obviously I am wrong.

IF I use this amp that would be the perfect amount of power as I wanted the subs to recieve 450-500 Watts RMS each.

Now I just need to decide if I will use my 2100 HCCA or my 4 JL Audio 500/1's. I just dont' know what to do.

I have always LOVED the sound of the older Orion amps. They just sound so natural, but I think the JL amps are great too!

The 2100HCCA is a very solid amp as if everbody doesent know. When I got mine I wired it to 1ohm and never changed it from there. It was powering 4 15" Orion subs, it never ran hot on me whatsoever. I have mine just sitting in my room now and want to put it back to use, but dont know what subs to throw at it, I also dont want to fool around to much with my electrical system.
