when ED first realesed them they were rated at 12.5 volts. also they have been benched at 1500 watts rms at 14 volts and something like 1300 watts at 12-13 volts.

Quit judging companies by the owner, seriously. Yes Orion has been around longer then eD.. but lets do some math..

Brand new eD NINe.1 /with 3year warranty - Only $315 with forum discount

Brand new Orion 1200D /with 1year warranty - Only $370 (sounddomain.com or sonicelectronix.com

eD NINe.1 has been benched to put out 1500 @ 14.4V; does 1200-1300 just at 12.5V

Orion puts out 1200 @ 13.8V and won't do much more.

Why? Hell if I know, I have been around there amps and some woofers and everything I have seen has been very solid. The biggest reason there is so much smashing on eD as a company is b/c most people around here have boners for such companies like RE, Adire, SoundSplinter, SI, Incriminator Audio.. not saying thats a bad thing.. but I don't think anyone ever gave eD a chance.

Its your decision bro, I think you'll pretty much be happy either way.. but it just comes down to what kinda numbers you want from your amp & if you want the extra length in warranty or not. Again, both are VERY solid amps. Goodluck!

first, sounddomain isn't the only authorized place to get an orion 1200D. how do you know the orion won't do more then 1200 watts? next i have dealt with ben personally and he is an *******. i can't show my face on icixsound because he totally ****ed my seller rating. when i have trouble with my amp, i would rather send to orion vs. ED. i bought subs and sound deadening from them and when they treat me like shit, i choose to buy elsewhere.

Yes, I have heard the story.. been through several posts and threads. I have done my homework you might say. I would say that eD is a total different company & wouldn't count them out from the other high end companies.. at all. No company is perfect and I'm sure every other company has started off rough as well.. whether it was 50 years ago or yesterday.

I know sounddomain isn't the only place, I was only recommending some of the more known places. You can find a few people around here and SSA to sell you a Orion 1200D for about $300 shipped. I'm sorry you had a bad deal with Ben and eD, but he's always been really nice to me.. & thats your choice to shop elsewhere.. I work a wal-mart man.. and some people come in and prob. have the worst shopping experience ever. Maybe we won't accept their check or card.. or we are out of something they NEED.. They get pretty pissed over the deal and never come back.. Just b.c they had a prob.. doesn't mean the whole world is going to have a problem.. I don't know if you get the point im trying to make here.. but I think eD is being overlooked b/c of some of the early mistakes they made as a young business.

Even if they dont, they are rated dead on. CEA 2006 even? not sure.

Again, ED is shady, what happens if you blow it? Will they warrant it? Who knows, Ben is shady to people, many still are out money from him.

i dont really have an opinion on eD as a company either way. i have a nine.1, and i like it, never had any trouble with it, thats all i know. (in MY experience anyway, i've read through all the main eD threads and know about all the failed drivers and shitty customer service)

Although I'm not saying eD > Orion or Orion > eD.

I'm just saying that both are VERY solid amps; and was pointing out different factors for him to see which would work out best for him in the end.

i take it you have never had a problem with any of their products or just haven't used any of them. once you have a problem with one of their products and then see Bens customer service, i am 110% positive that you'd change your mind very quickly. I'd also like to see a real bench test done on the 9.1 other than eDuh as they are known to over-glorify their products. I know my 9.1 that first came DOA, then sent back and promised a new one, and low and behold they repaired the amp, scratched it all up, kept my remote gain knob and took almost a month and when i finally got it back it seemed pretty weak. I seriously doubt that it was putting out the rated power. yeah i love to buy brand new products that come dead and then have to ship it back at my own expense and being promised that they'll send out a new one as soon as they got the DOA unit. Then finally after around a month goes by i finally get a scratched up, repaired amp with no remote gain knob back when i clearly paid for a new unit. Ben is a Douchebag end of story....
