optima yellow top

Okay well i will be purchasing my RE SX on July 2nd and i will be using the mono hifonics brutus 1,000 watt rms amp. Now i noticed that some people on this forum use optima battery's because of there car audio amps are draining all the power from there autozone battery. Im just curious to know if with this setup that i would have to buy a optima or another good brand battery? I checked around and so far the cheapest i can find this optima battery was at sounddomain for 159 is there a cheaper place i can buy this battery at online? Its really not the cost that is an issue its my budget,because my cousin is coming to visit and is installing all my equipment at the end of july and im afraid i won't have enough to cover the amp and the sub,plus the materials i have to buy to build the box. I will be starting college in august so i don't want to be stuck at school because my car won't start so i will hold off on buying that mono amp if i need to purchase this battery instead,thanks.

P.S. I have a fairly new autozone battery that i paid 70 for and it has"1,000" wrote on it if that helps.

I didn't know if i should post it here or the wiring section if it should goto the wiring feel free to move it and sorry.

you should be fine i have a bx1500d and i have just a regular battery and its doing just fine. ill most likely get one when i need a new battery but for now my batteries doing just fine

That's where I got mine at least. No regrets there. Almost no problems with electrical with a bx1500d and a zx6400 w/ stock alt.

yea i have a stock alt and the weird thing is that its really a low rated one at 60 amps but my system is still just fine

Well i got a really good battery to start with i have a duralast heavy duty gold which has 110 reserve capacity compared to the optima's 120. I decided to go with the XXX i just figure if my lights start to dim then i will upgrade otherwise i will just leave it stock,thanks.

If your regular battery is dying with your system/listening habits/alternator, a Yellow Top is going to die as well. The only difference will be the amount that you are out when it dies.

Hey helotaxi how many watts rms is your amp putting out? Also in your opinion at what point do you think its mandatory to get a new alternator since a yellow top won't help? I plan on getting that hifonics brutus 1500 watt amp. thanks

unless ur battery is like 4 years old and dying i wouldnt bother replacing it. It will help little, an HO alternator would be a better choice. I bought my red top off ebay and it helped alot but because my battery was old and dying out. The only advantage yellow top has over red top is being able to recharge, i say just get a red top unless u need it for competition.
