I have a serious car audio question. When i turn my new setup up and leave it up for a while there is a funny electronics smell almost like a burnt smell and im scurred. Could it just be the subs because there new? My setup consists of 250amp alt, 2 new fi q 18"s 10^3 35hz orion 2500d 2 power masters in the back and one up front and the orion takes 4ga in to it(2+ and 2-) and everything else is 0g. Your probably gonna ask so no i haven't set my gains with a dmm, but have by ear and have them set conservatively. what should i start checking......and grammar FTL, sorry folks.

your amp is fried, its its most likely on its way out the door right now...

if you want i can go ahead and give you $100 shipped (just tryin to be nice here....)

next time leave the gains below 1/4 (over 1/4 is for competitions only) and you should be set...

just pm me with paypal info and all that good stuff and lets get you squared away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i just did a type r today and had the same thing and was led to believe that it was just the coil heating up and melting excess glue and other stuff if its set low and the wiring is right dint worry. are you sure it is the subs and not the amp?

First off, Run 0g to that 2500d right away. Second, if the subs are new its probably just the glue. do the subs get hot?
The amp doesn't accept 0g, it has 2+ and 2- 4ga inputs.

Im assuming your stupid *** is also referring to the fact it has 4ga ran to it? Well how about you learn something before trying to get smart with me......fail....

And i have not checked to see if the subs get hot. Thats something i will see. Anything else i should check for? Electrical is up to par. Amp has never gone into protect but it could be getting hot, ill check that too.

You should still run 1/0g for that amp and then use reducers to go into the amp. Next time you smell it, put your hand on the dustcap and see if they are hot. 2 18" Q's should be able to take that power.
