onkyo 506 vs 606

If you're looking to run HDMI components through the receiver, the 606 is a MUST! The 506 only does pass-through, so you won't get any audio through the receiver without running an additional optical/dig.coax cable. Not to mention the independant volume control on the 606's Zone 2 is very nice.

 
What your gonna spend in additional cabling, you could have used to update to a more future proof receiver...

Not to mention lose HDMI, Zone2, Power, Simplicity, Easy of Use...

 
I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the 506 can process lossless codecs, that alone is worth the upgrade. I'd go with the 606.

Ooooorrrr, see if you can still find a cheap 805. I got one about 2 months ago for $415.
