So I got this Eclipse SW-9122. I played it the other day in my house just for fun, and left it for a couple days. Now all of a sudden one of the coils reads 16ohms? Wtf? I followed the leads all the way down to where they connect to the coil on the former, but those joints are all covered in gunk so I could only poke one point on the leads, not right where it connects to the coil. Regardless, all the way down the leads it reads 16ohms. I took the top assembly apart too, nothing suspicious. Help?

Not sure why it went bad, maybe moisture/corrosion? I had a 1st-gen Kicker L7 that was at like 8.9ohm for each coil after I gave it 1100 watts... the tinsel leads frayed b the cone, or something.

At least you can find plenty of people who can recone those subs, look the sub in my avatar, that was a SW9122.

My sub hasn't even been broken in! I've had it for maybe two weeks...

Troll or not?
If you have to ask........

On a more serious note...

Did you have the sub unhooked from everything else? Did you check your DMM to make sure its consistent with other loads?

IDK but the last chap I gave advice to with a similar problem had his wiring all fucked up... keep us posted...

Edit:

This. A bad solder joint or failing connection could also be the culprit...

Yep, sub unhooked. As I said, I followed the leads past the terminals, all the way down where they are glued to the former
