It can be done if you are careful, I have given subs way more than 3x rated with good results.

mabe if he puts then in a .75 cubed, sealed enclosure each and burps them for 1/4 sec they'll live but your talking puch series woofers not "other woofers". get audioques there cheap too and seem to hold up theres a guy in our league putting 5000W to each of his (burp).
