one 15 for 69 chrvelle

Putting subs in your trunk, and ANY speakers on your rear parcel shelf, is a bad idea. The pressure generated in the trunk by the subs will affect the cone motion of the speakers in the rear deck. You are much better off leaving speakers out of the rear deck altogether, and utilizing the holes to help allow the pressure/sound waves from the subs escape the trunk and into the passenger compartment. This is especially true if your chevelle's back seat has the traditional vinyl upholstery. That's unless you fire the subs forward, and seal the trunk off from the passenger compartment. But you wont fit four 12's doing that.

how about a bandpass that ports through the center of the rear deck, you can still have your 4) 6x9s and you'll also gain a lot of free output instead of beating your trunk to ***** just to get half the energy back in the car. This would take the 15" out of the equation, but are you after showing someone you have a 15" or are you trying to take their head off if they get in the car? I second the Hybrid Audio Imagines, they are excellent in their price range. since you'd be going with smaller diameter sub(s) if using a high efficiency bandpass design and the sub(s) would be internal to the box (not visible without a plexi window), i wouldn't spend the extra jack on the customization of the sub. if sheer volume is the goal of the mids/highs also......you can get WAY more efficient mids and tweets if you look into pro audio equipment. PM if you are interested in hearing more......

Just wanted to throw in my 2 pennies. I had a '79 camaro as a teenager and something about 4 6x9's in the rear deck was just right for that car. I eventually went a whole different route with the system but when i started out it was a O/S sony tape deck/cd changer , a xm-4045 , and 2 pairs of high end sony 6x9's and it flat out rocked for a 160 watt total system.
