One 10 or 2 10's???

If I got 2 10's should I wire them at 2 ohm which is like 800RMS or 1ohm around 1000Rms? would the one ohm draw alot more amps than the 2 ohm I am thinking on using typer R subs. If I ran only one wire it at 4ohm which is 550rms or at the 2 ohm???

well now it sorta depends., check this out. your amp puts out 1000 watts u say. if u get 1 1000 watt sub and ported or even run it sealed it would be compairable to 2 500watt subs in a sealed box. depending on Xmax of both subs of cours. more of a rule of thumb, id go for 2 500watt 10s ported!!

I used to have just one eclipse sw9152 with 1000watts going to it. It sounded great but I had the extraroom and added another identicle sub so now I have 2 9152's and 500watts going to each of them and there was a very noticable difference in loudness. I posted a similar question a while ago and some one said that if you just double the surface area that theoretically your supposed to get +3db or something like that. If you also double the power you get an additional 3db. Some day I will throuh down the extra money for another amp for the extra 3db. (I will have to redo my electic supply though)

well i'll share my experience:

have 3 adire koda 10s. all are 4 ohm SVC. one is in a sealed cube shows 4 ohms to my mtx 801d amp. sounds good and has decent thump.

the other two are in a thunderform enclosure (about 1.7' cubes sealed) and wired in parallel showing 2 ohms to the same amp (other box disconnected). sounds just as good, but definitely more spl thump. no changes made on the amp settings.

so if you have the space for two 10s go for it.

Thanks for the help. Im still not for sure what I want to do. I currently have a crappy old brand 10"sub and a really crappy box and it sounds decent. I am wanting something that sounds good and clear. I guess I could alway get the box that has 2 spots for 10's and since they are seperatly sealed I could later on if I decide I want more to go ahead and get the other sub. The box I am going to go with is from subthump and they list it in a 10" and 12". That rises another question. 10's or 12's better for rock (distrubed, ac/dc, etc.)?

all depends on the box

If you looking for an SQ sub, I highly recommend Infinity Perfect 10.1.

I listen to all kinds of music(Aerosmith to After 7) and the 10.1 doesn't miss a beat. I'm putting 320w rms to it in a sealed enclosure and it sounds better than any 12 I've ever heard that cost twice as much. IMO two in a PU would be overkill but that's just me.
