ok to splice power wire??

as long as the splice is doen well, its OK. obviously it is better not to splice, but if you think about it, when you put fusing inline you are "splicing". I wouldn't get 4 or 5 pcs and try to make one long peice. but in a pinch, you will be fine.

How are you planning on connecting it?

Do you need another fuse? if not I personally like a mechanical connection better than soldering. you could get a splicer from a welding store that is basically a rod of metal (bronze/brass/alum) with 4, 1/0 guage drilled into each side, with a allen key set screw to tighten down on the wire once it is placed. then you can shrink wrap the spilce. or you could get a cheap splicing union from Home depot which will look like a "U" shaped bolt with one big nut that has another "U" shaped peice that will clamp the 2 pcs of wire together when tightened down. It will be bulkier, and uglier, but will also get the job done.
