1700 would be plenty for the one sub, though you should really just save your money and get more powa. 2 XXX's on 2500-3000 = ***
for SURE
x2, box will only cost like 30 bucks though and will hold u over until u can get another amp and sum electrical upgrades to back it up.
1700 watts for that sub is perfect, just make sure that the amp is setup correctly(correct gains, bass boost, etc).
1700w rms is about the highest id go with that sub for daily rms. It's abaility to play with that much power efficently will depend greatly on the box and the how well the amp is tuned. dont get too crazy with the LPF and let too much higher end notes get through that sound distorted. I would not use any bass boost whatso ever. Boost typically just adds distortion.
i personally would just hold out until you can can upgrade your power and eletrical. first thing i'd do is getting batteries and wiring. if you have at least a 120amp alty you should be okay with that for the time being.
Anything less i would get an HO alt before upgrading to a bigger amp. God knows if you have the amp its going to be very tempting to play that amp past what the electrical can provide, and we all know that ends very bad.
What's your electrical like right now?
What's you HU and how are the EQ's set?
what kind of budget?
If you're budget minded I'd do the Big 3 and get 1/0 from font to back. Find a yellow top or comparable battery for the trunk and look into a kx or zx 2500.1. those amps are very efficent for how muhc power they put out and are all are outstanding amps. I've owned a few and loved them. You'll have a 2 ohm nominal load which is just what you can use with your subs. These amps are around 400-500 shipped. worth every penny. If you want to go for more power youll need to find something efficent minded, and once you start getting around 3kw and up thats hard to find, especially for cheap...
HO alts are amazing, but not cheap. most of the time you can get away with a stock 120ish amp alty and run around 2.5kw with a decent battery bank, good wiring, and letting it charge for a few min before you park and stop the engine. I ran my kx 2500.1 @ 2ohms with a single XS d3100 bat in the trunk for long periods of time for over a year and never had any issues.
hope this helps.
