OK question I promise

I just heard a friends new system which has 2 '05 15'' Kicker Comps sealed and it was pretty loud. I wanted to know if I got 2 '05 L5's 10'' or 12'' ported would I be close to getting as loud as his system? I want the 10's but I'll get the 12's if I have to, will a ported box be enough to help me?

OK I think his amp is VD1000 or something like that and I'll get a Directed 1100d or 1500d depending on if I get the 10 or 12. He drives a 2000 Taurus and I drive a 2000 Monte Carlo SS.

try 1 15 L7 ported and that should do the trick. Front fire it if you want

i think two square 12s ported with more power would give you the edge over his sealed comps. but if youre going with the single 15 like jose said then yeah L5s and L7s are pretty similar. dont knwo if an L5 would take over 1000 rms daily liek the L7 would though

Oh yeah I forgot to mention he has the Comp VR's if thats makes much of a difference.

yeah that makes a difference. 2 12 L5s wont do the trick. one ported L7 in a good box and with decent power (over 1kwmrs) might do it. id say 2 12 L7s most likely would... you could go with somethin other than kicker and it might be a little easier to make suggestions too..

but honestly.. just worry about what gets loud enough for your tastes. dont worry about his system. if you do that then every loud system you hear youll think 'what would it take to beat that' and you could go on forever and still never get to be the loudest out there.
