what are you trying to power off the ing. switch/wire??

If you dont have any power from the constant wire, it is probably a fuse. The constant wire runs off of a different fuse than the switched wire. It sounds like you have a meter so run a check on all the fuses in the fuses boxes inside the car and under the hood.

Sounds like me when I first started running wires. Don't worry man, its SO worth it in the end.
