Ok I know you all hate Caps for w.e reason...BUT

bigger wire has less resistance which allows current to flow through it more easily.

Your amp is probably already dead, and killing your battery (if your battery is not already dead)

a cap is used for short bursts of power. a cap is only useful if you have a high output alternator with overhead room.

how a cap works (example):

YOUR system pulls 1500w RMS.

Your alternator can handle 2000w RMS

You listen to shitty rap music that for some reason has a beat recorded at +6 db (as opposed to -6 to 0 db that music is normally recorded at)

So when the bass hits, your subs pull the '3000w PEAK' that your amp is capable of producing.

Your alternator cannot handle 3000w...it can only handle 1500w

Your alt's extra 500w of charging power will charge your cap between the bass beats.

That way, your system won't dim when you hit the 3000w bass notes.

#1, if your system is designed this way, then your more than likely an idiot, and your breaking your equipment.

#2, you need to have EXTRA power in order to practically use a cap

#3, only an idiot would use a cap in a daily driver

#4, please, edit your thread to save yourself the embarrassment.

yeah i know. lol i do admit it. its from forever ago. I am in the process of getting a whole new set up anyway. it will all be changed after the new year. just watch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
actually i should just take that out of my sig so i dont keep digging myself a hole. lol

how in the hell is using 10 amps to keep the battery charged up while the battery displaces 100's of amp in exchange taxing his alt? are u that stupid really? it is 1500 watts dumbass learn to fking read and go get some knowledge lol
In order to get those 100's of amps into the battery, the alternator has to charge it.

If your battery uses 100 of its amps to power your system ......................... the alt has to use more than 100 amps to recharge the battery.

Unless of course you've discovered a way to achieve more than 100% efficiency?

1500w shouldn't be doing that much damage.

Its obvious his car has electrical issues. Mostlikely the bat or alt or both. If he doesn't get a ho alt or ho batt, then he should get a new stock alt and new stock batt. Because they're probably both dying.

what kind of idiot spends his money on car audio for a POS car? Your bass is probably shaking the parts off.

Let me guess, you're 6 months behind on your child support, too?

I agree that something must be going on with his electrical, I push 1500W RMS on a 65 amp alt just fine. But if he adds another battery right now he can run his system for a while and maybe, just maybe turn it off for a little bit and recharge both those batts. Just a thought.

Actually both the battery and alt is fine. ALSO I had the equipment bought before the car started screwing up. HELL I had the subs bought before I even had the car. Was pretty confident that the lights and shit wouldnt dim when I installed it. BUT yea I was mistaking. Happens when you know VERY little about something. Everyone starts off from somewhere.

And no actually I just got bills up the *** lol. Was plan on waiting till I get my Tax Returns...and use it to take care of the audio shit in the car...assuming my left over cash from financial aid & a couple paychecks will fix the car regardless the issue.

How? At the max volts you can push out or w.e its just like a 65 amp alt can just handle around 980-1000 watts...add that ontop of the power it takes to run a car...I just dont see how thats possible...unless your exaggerating a bit or have the equivalent knowledge about car audio as me.

start by upgrading your wire size. is the sub amp the only amp you have running right now?
Ya

Like everyone else said upgrading the wire isnt going to hurt it at all

Do you already have the big 3 in 4gauge?
Wires the car came with are 4 gauge.

Ne ways continue posting and making fun of my lack of knowledge if you want...im off to bed...10pm atm and I gotta be up in like 7 hours.

Ive got an 05 civic with a 70 amp alt. All I have is a yellowtop under the hood and I have zero dimming issues and have very little voltage drop. Try that first. Might not even need the alt.
