everywhere on here i keep seeing type r's are these subs really that good..they only take 500 rms and cost around $100 from ebay..how good can they be?what im saying is..say if someone was used to having 4 jl12w7's for about 3-4 years..who he apprecite these subs or give them a dirty look?

in a way of saving a sh*t load of money and really not losing much in output.

i feel that part.i had bought them around when the w7's came out and i wasnt thinking about how cheaper they would be online i bought them from my local audio shop and paid $850 for each one..but they do a great job with installing they know there stuff..but i just wish i would have thought about lookin online first.

Jesus you paid 850 for each sub and you had 4 of them? That is like over 3500 in just subs. That is insane mang! I own the type r's and yes they are nice for the price, but compared to the jl 12w7's that is like King said apples and oranges. Byt for the money it is hard to lose on the R's. You could get like 30 some type r 12''s for the price you paid for those Jl's. Just remember, these guys arent running these subs on 500W.

More like 2x that amount of power....

Dont expect 150dB with that amount

i sold the truck with the system with it for personal reasons..now im getting a new truck..i was lookin at the infiniti qx 56 but i could save as much has $15,000 if i go with the nissan armada which is identical inside and out..you cant tell the difference..basically with me is if i cant do something and be the best around i dont do it..so im trying to come up with a system that will make my last one sound weak...i was thinking about doing 2-3 digital designs 9912's and hooking eahc up to eiter one of those new 4000 watt autotek amps or something by a/d/s or maybe even crossfires 4000watt amp..not sure..
may go with cdt audio for components or bostons..

Sorry guys, but a Type R will not beat a Dub7 in ANY way shape or form, except for price.
